Insulated temporary buildings and indoor storage from Lauralu

If you’re looking for a way to expand your business premises, a temporary structure is the perfect solution.

Temporary buildings are an excellent option for businesses that are looking to expand their operation, gain storage facilities and protect stock and assets.

However, you may have been put off your project due to the myths surrounding temporary building hire, including:

  • The cost
  • The quality
  • Issues with planning permission
  • The fact that they are ‘temporary’

In this article, our experts explore the key myths around temporary building hire and why they can easily be debunked.

What are the myths around temporary building hire?

Here are 4 misconceptions about temporary building hire and why they are incorrect:

Issues with planning permission

As with most construction projects, planning permission is often a concern, but are there planning permission requirements for temporary buildings?

Temporary buildings don’t usually require planning permission as long as:

  • The structure is less than 100 metres of floor space
  • The structure is used for the same purpose as the rest of the premises or to provide facilities for staff

Planning permission for temporary buildings is only required under the following circumstances:

  • If the temporary building is intended to stand for more than 28 days
  • If the materials used in construction affect the appearance of the building
  • If it reduces the space available for parking or turning of vehicles
  • If the structure is built within five metres of the boundary of the site

In comparison, in the time it takes to gain planning permission for a traditional, brick-and-mortar construction, you could have had a Lauralu temporary building installed and operational.

Cost

If you’re considering a temporary building for your business, you may have been put off because of the high costs associated with the construction of new structures.

However, Lauralu temporary structures don’t require costly footings and foundations. Instead, they are assembled securely to the ground with the use of mechanical fixings.

Compared to brick-and-mortar, a Lauralu temporary building can save your business, on average, up to 50% of the usual cost, preserving funds that can be invested elsewhere!

Every building has unique needs, which is why we offer a range of flexible payment options to help finance your temporary building, including:

Quality

While temporary structures from Lauralu can be installed rapidly, this is not an indicator of the quality of the building.

At Lauralu, we pride ourselves on the standard of our structures, making sure to use only the highest-quality materials available, including:

  • 100% recyclable steel
  • Aluminium
  • State-of-the-art, Euroclass B-s2, d0 membrane

We’re so confident with the quality of our temporary buildings that they each come with a 10-year structural guarantee. Lauralu are also Eurocode NV65, ERP (CTS7) certified.

They might be temporary, but they’re of the highest possible quality!

Their ‘temporary’ name

While temporary in name, a Lauralu temporary building comes with a 10-year structural guarantee.

This means that, while it technically is temporary, that means at minimum 10 years, and often longer with maintenance.

They are only called ‘temporary’ buildings as they don’t follow the same process as traditional brick-and-mortar structures.
